Austin Trotman is definitely one of my favorite all-time App State athletes. He’s still training at App and also with Team USA. He slipped at the World Cup trials but he’s working hard in preparation for the Olympic trials.

Awhile back, I broke the news here on the site that Carisa Rose, former App State Elite Dance Team captain, had been selected to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. That turned out to be one of the most popular posts EVER on the site.
So I figured why not ask her to do an interview? Luckily, she was kind enough to agree. In it, she talks about her favorite memories from App State, her transition from collegiate dancing to the NFL, and even what her ex-boyfriends think of her now.
The Dallas Cowboys were also kind enough to send a few pictures which I collected in a photo gallery at the end.
Besides seeing Carisa on TV during the games, you might catch her on season 6 of the hit reality show “DCC: Making the Team” which airs on CMT. Also be sure to follow her on Twitter.

Congratulations to former ASU Dance Team Captain Carisa McMillan (AKA Carisa Rose) who recently beat out at least 600 other girls to get a spot on the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader team. The 2012 lineup was announced this past friday.
Talk about a fun post to research…

If you are a gamer like me and hate the fact that there are only FBS schools in NCAA Football 2013, don’t worry. There is a “create a team” feature in the game, and someone has already done all the legwork of creating an Appalachian State team you can download. It works for both Xbox360 & PS3. UPDATE: Unfortunately we ran a story reported by the High Country Press that claimed former Appalachian State star wrestler Austin Trotman would be competing in the Olympics. It was immediately pointed out by several people that he can’t be competing in the Olympics if he didn’t compete in the qualifiers. I emailed Ken Ketchie, editor of the High Country Press asking him about it. He replied:
Thanks John – we realize that now – and have taken down that story. We’ll make corrections to reflect the competition he will be competing in.
Thanks again -Ken Ketchie
Ok so it wasn’t in a game. Who cares?! This video went viral a little over a year ago, but it’s still pretty insane. Check it out if you haven’t seen it.
