VIDEO: ESPN’s Lou Holtz Says Georgia Southern Should Go FBS

Georgia Southern students are voting on a measure tomorrow that would increase student fees by $100 ($75 for a supposed FBS move, $25 for stadium expansion). I guess the outcome is in question because they went through the trouble of asking Lou Holtz to tape a segment urging students to vote in favor of the fee increases.

If Georgia Southern is ever going to go FBS they definitely need to expand their stadium and significantly increase their athletics budget. Also, moving their campus to Atlanta wouldn’t hurt.

AppSt/Montana on ESPN3: How To Set It Up On Your TV

Can’t make it to the game? I feel you. I’ve got to work Saturday. I would skip, but unfortunately when you work for the military that’s not a good idea .

Well we’re both in luck, the game is on ESPN3, but don’t wait until right before the game to set it up. It’s a little tricky:

To Watch ESPN3:

You have to subscribe to a participating cable TV provider OR internet provider that offers ESPN3. Click those links to check if your provider offers it.

Ok so let’s say your cable or internet provider offers ESPN3, how are you going to watch it on your 55in flat screen TV instead of your 15in computer screen? Well here are some options that I’ve found:

1. XBox 360: Downloading the WatchESPN app to your Xbox is probably the easiest way. But in addition to the participating cable or internet provider, you will also need an XBox Live Gold Subscription. If you or your kids don’t have one you can purchase a 1 month subscription for $5.

2. HDMI Cable: Plug your computer into your tv using an HDMI cable. (If your computer has an HDMI out) Then go to the ESPN3 Website on your computer and click on the game after logging in.

3. Digital Media Receiver: Buy one of these but make sure you have Wi-Fi in your house before you do. Follow the instructions included with the receiver. Then go to the ESPN3 Website on your computer and click on the game after logging in.

4. PlayON: With this you can use your Wii or PS3, but it’s $40 for for an annual subscription to use the software. Follow the instructions included with PlayOn. Then go to the ESPN3 Website on your computer and click on the game after logging in.

5. Computer: The above too complicated? Just watch it on your computer.

6. WatchESPN app: Download this to your iPad or mobile device. It would be difficult to get this on to your TV set, but it is an option for watching the game.

To Watch ESPN Gameplan:

Go to the ESPN Gameplan website for details. Ultimately you will have to contact your particular cable/satellite provider for cost (It’s pricey). Only use this option if your cable or internet provider does not provide ESPN3, or you live outside the U.S.

VIDEO: ESPN Discusses Michigan vs Appalachian State in 2014

Somebody send Jesse Palmer a dictionary. He has no idea what the word “revenge” means.

He calls it a fluke but we BEAT them: 34-32. We played far from a perfect game but we were winning at halftime. We were winning when the game ended. I didn’t see a shred of luck involved. The game wasn’t even as close as the final score indicated.

When you embarrass someone, obviously they are going to want revenge. No one gives a crap that Michigan State has beaten them a couple of years in a row. But 5 years later everyone’s still talking about App State beating them.

Of course they want revenge. It’s our job to make sure they don’t get it.

AUDIO: ESPN730 Discusses Panthers WR Armanti Edwards; Will He Get Cut?

Steve Reed, the Associated Press Sports Writer for Charlotte, was on ESPN730 and he doesn’t seem to think Armanti will make it past the roster cuts this year. Skip to 3:02 to hear the conversation.

“Armanti, I just, to me right now he’s very much on the bubble, and in my opinion on the outside looking in. And why I say that is cause you got Brandon LaFell you got Steve Smith as your starters. I think they’re going to keep David Gettis…He’s 3, And then Kealoha Pilares & Joe Adams they’re your kickoff and punt returners right now. If you keep both of them they’re 4 and 5. And Louis Murphy is another guy battling for that #3 spot you know, so maybe that’s 6.

I don’t know that I’ve seen too many NFL teams carry more than 6. I just think if you just start counting up numbers it’s going to be awful hard for Armanti to stay in that mix. I think, you know, it’s not going to surprise me if he’s not here at the end of this 2nd cut.”

The big dates Armanti has to watch out for are:

August 27 – Roster cut down to 75 players
August 31 – Roster cut down to 53 players

Although I’m a Carolina Panthers fan,  I’m an even bigger Armanti Edwards fan and part of me hopes he DOES get cut. Frankly, I’m not sure he’s getting a fair shake with the Panthers, and that’s unfortunate. They’re playing him with the 3rd team. Asking him to put up big numbers with just a few plays and Jimmy Clausen at the helm with no time to throw is ridiculous.

I mean just look at …READ MORE

AUDIO: App State Football Coach Jerry Moore on ESPN730

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Appalachian State football coach Jerry Moore was on ESPN730 earlier this afternoon. If you don’t see the audio player above click HERE.

In the interview he talks about the growing rivalry with ECU, the shakeups at Montana, and the expectations going into the season.

One of the more troubling things he mentions is the lack of depth at the QB position. We’re still looking for a solid #2 guy so hopefully Jackson stays healthy.

Yesterday I POSTED about ECU’s AD appearing on ESPN730 and talking App State. Well immediately before that they had ESPNU’s Charles Arbuckle on and they also talked some App State. I included the full audio for you up above (Skip to 2:30) . He says a lot of positives, but most of the takeaways are kind of negative: …READ MORE

Sun Belt Commish: Talking to Appalachian State – Has Never Visited Boone

All dressed up and nowhere to go. That’s kind of how it feels to be an App State fan this week. Hopefully that will change with a Sun Belt invite. Finally App is being mentioned in various articles regarding conference realignment. However, the newest update isn’t a particularly good one. Sun Belt Commissioner Karl Benson did an exclusive interview with ESPN 1420. Unfortunately there is no recording or transcript (let me know in the comments if you find one), but they did release a summary of the interview. Here are the parts that mention App State: …READ MORE
