According to an article in the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, Wofford defensive coordinator Nate Woody is expected to take the same position at Appalachian State.
It looks to be a great hire:
…under Woody, [Wofford] led the Southern Conference in scoring defense (16.6 points per game), total defense (305 yards per game) and rushing defense (125 yards per game). The Terriers ranked ninth nationally in total defense and seventh in scoring defense.
According to his official bio, he was a 4-year starter at Wofford and has been a coach there for 22 years. It’s got to be tough for him to give that up. That is…IF he gives it up.
Wofford’s beat writer, who wrote the original article, is now making it sound like the move is more in question, and that another Wofford coach may be departing:
Don’t pop the champagne yet, but I hope we get him.

UPDATE
The Spartanburg Herald-Journal has put up a new article. It reiterates what was said on Twitter yesterday. He is waiting until Sunday to make up his mind. As for the other Wofford coach, it was Western Carolina trying to steal him away (but failed).

UPDATE X2
The Spartanburg Herald-Journal has a new blog post up that doesn’t say much new, but explains the mixed messages they are getting from Nate Woody.
