App State’s baseball head coach search has been pretty quiet so far. According to Skipper’s Dugout, we are taking a look at Link Jarrett, third year Director of Player Development at Auburn.
He is a 2 time SEC Assistant Coach of the year. He played at FSU before being drafted to the Colorado Rockies in the 22nd round. He’s also had coaching jobs at Flagler College, FSU, Mercer, & ECU.
Perhaps most impressively, when he took over as hitting coach at Auburn the team was hitting a mere .286 and in one year he turned that into a .308.
He’s been successful everywhere he has gone. I would be happy with this choice, but right now it’s still a rumor. My only concern is he strikes me as someone who will leave as soon as he is successful. It would be nice to have some coaching stability by hiring someone with ties to the school. Isn’t there an App Grad that is a D2 Baseball coach in NC that has won an NCAA D2 championship? Why wouldn’t App go after him.
